Fun Things to do for July 4th in NYC

2025 4th of July Events and Celebrations in NYC

Staying in town for the 4th? There’s plenty of fun ways to celebrate the holiday right here in NYC. From fireworks and parties to contests and cruises, here's a few festivities to consider adding to your July 4th agenda in 2025.

Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest

A beloved Coney Island tradition that may be gross, but super entertaining. Contestants have just 10 minutes to inhale as many hot dogs as humanly possible. Joey Chestnut’s historic streak came to an end in 2024, but fans are eager to see if a new champ will rise in 2025. Head to Coney Island to find out!

Coney Island 4th of July Fireworks

Once the hot dogs are gone, hang around for the day to see the fireworks. Bring a blanket, grab a cone from Nathan’s or Williams Candy, and enjoy the colorful display over the ocean.

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Special

If you’re in Manhattan, you have to see Macy’s annual 4th of July fireworks. This year, the spectacular show returns to the East River, launching from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and four barges positioned on the lower East River in the Seaport District.

Fourth of July NYC Cruise

Ditch the crowded parks and rooftops and hop on the cruise instead. Check out the Event Cruises for the 4th of July––a fun alternative that has panoramic skyline views, food, drinks, and a front-row seat to the Macy’s fireworks over the East River! Whether you’re looking for a dance party or a romantic dinner, there’s a cruise for every vibe.

Rooftop Parties

If you’re looking to catch Macy’s fireworks from a rooftop, there are several great options with unbeatable views and a lively atmosphere. Head over to the Coda Rooftop in Williamsburg where they’ll be hosting a lively bash with DJs and skyline views, and $39 VIP tickets include two drinks—you can get them here.

If you're aiming for a day-to-night rooftop experience in Brooklyn, check out Azure’s Fourth of July at Arlo Williamsburg, running from 3 PM to 10 PM.  It’s an ideal blend of a summer day-party and holiday celebration featuring an iconic DJ, Luke Alexander.

If rooftops aren’t your thing or you’re looking for a more chill vibe, the South Street Seaport Museum is hosting a waterfront picnic-style viewing party on Pier 16 with food, drinks, and direct views of the fireworks—grab your tickets here!
