Best Oktoberfest Events in NYC This Year

 

We may not be in Munich, but that doesn't mean New Yorkers have to miss out on the celebrations. You won't run out of fun things to see and do—here are some celebrations taking place at breweries, beer halls, and waterfront bars. Raise your steins; it’s Oktoberfest time.                                                                                                                                                                                                         

 

 

1. Bierhaus NYC


This Bavarian-style beer hall (located just two blocks from Grand Central) loves to celebrate Oktoberfest. On September 21st they’ll be hosting their Oktoberfest kick-off event, by throwing a Steuben Day Parade Afterparty. Stop by for beer and traditional Oktoberfest food.

2. The Watermark


Authentic German beer will be flowing at Watermark Bar at Pier 15, Sep 14th - Oct 27th. Guests can experience everything that makes Oktoberfest great—authentic beer, brats, giant pretzels, and fun for the entire family—while taking in the lovely water and Brooklyn views from the 3,500-square-foot outdoor bar. The event is free to attend but reservations are encouraged.  

3. Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden


Grab a Sam Adam's or Spaten on tap at the oldest beer garden in NYC. This sprawling outdoor venue in Astoria, Queens serves a variety of delicious specialties like schnitzel, pretzels, grilled klobasa, and bratwurst, along with more kid-friendly items like hot dogs and hamburgers. If you head over on September 14th and 15th, you can enjoy live music, draft beer, and more Oktoberfest cuisine.

4. Circle Line’s Oktoberfest Cruises


Take a fifty-mile cruise up the Hudson River to Bear Mountain State Park while enjoying autumnal foliage during this Oktoberfest-themed experience, which  includes German food specials, Oktoberfest beers (available for purchase), and a German Polka band.

Once at Bear Mountain, travelers have two hours to hike, grab brunch, and take as many autumnal photos as they can before heading back to the city.  

 

5. The Standard Biergarten 


Tucked under the High Line, The Standard Biergarten serves traditional German fare like beer, sausages, pretzels, and more in an outdoor setting all year long. Stop by on September 21st to kick off Oktoberfest with a block party featuring games, sausages, prizes, live music, a Ferris wheel, and beer. It’s free to enter but make sure to RSVP. Prost!
